Postdoctoral Associate
Zachary Garvin is a Postdoctoral Fellow working in the Johnson Biosignatures Lab through the STIA Program and Department of Biology at Georgetown University. He received his Ph.D. in Geomicrobiology from Princeton University. His research background is in Geomicrobiology and Astrobiology, combining techniques from traditional microbiology, metagenomics, and analytical chemistry to study microorganisms living in "extreme" terrestrial environments and the strategies life might employ to survive under the challenging conditions on Mars and beyond. His current research is focused on preparing life-detection capabilities for future Mars missions.
