Tim Hughes

Tim Hughes serves as Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX), where he leads the global policy, regulatory and government business efforts. He is a graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and holds a law degree from the College of William & Mary. Hughes previously served as Majority Counsel to the Committee on Science and Technology in the U.S. House of Representatives and became the primary professional staffer writing the bill that led to The Commercial Space Launch Amendments Act of 2004, which established the legal and regulatory framework for private human spaceflight for the United States. Professor Hughes co-teaches Foundations of Space Studies.
